San Leandro residents had an unexpected visitor when a coyote made its way onto a local's front porch, leading to a swift response by the San Leandro Police Department (SLPD). The incident occurred early in the afternoon, with SLPD's Animal Control safely relocating the injured animal. According to the San Leandro Police Department, this action was taken immediately after receiving the call from the concerned resident, ensuring that the coyote was transported to a wildlife center for care.
Notably, this event comes in the wake of a recent sighting of a young coyote in the Washington Manor neighborhood, where locals were advised to adopt a hands-off approach. In this instance, the elusive coyote evaded capture after officials arrived near Bethany Street and Drake Avenue following a call received around 4:10 pm yesterday. The advice from the Department of Fish and Game, as reported by Hoodline, suggests that residents should allow the animal to return to its natural habitat without human interference safely.
SLPD remains vigilant after the recent sightings and emphasizes safety precautions for the community. "Do not engage with the coyote and keep those pooches on a tight leash," per the San Leandro Police Department, as reported by Hoodline.
