Seguin's Future Workforce Takes Center Stage at 3rd Annual Youth Career ExpoSource: City of Seguin

The Seguin Economic Development Corporation is hosting its 3rd annual Seguin Youth Career Expo on November 20 from 9 am to 3 pm at the Seguin Events Complex. More than 800 eighth-grade students from Seguin ISD, Navarro ISD, Marion ISD, and Southwest Prep will have the opportunity to connect with over 25 industry representatives as they explore career and technical education options before high school, according to the City of Seguin.

Josh Schneuker, Executive Director of Seguin, emphasized the importance of the exposition for the local workforce, helping students explore high-demand skills and connect with professionals from fields like medicine, technology, and government services. "By connecting 8th-grade students with local businesses and professionals, we’re helping them make informed choices about CTE pathways and future educational opportunities" Schneuker told the City of Seguin.

The event will feature interactive activities, employer-led demonstrations, and industry-specific equipment to help students explore career options. Participating organizations include Alamo Group Texas, the Seguin Fire Department, and Gold Sponsor Schaeffler, offering students a clear view of local job opportunities as they plan their academic and career paths.

Sergio Jaurrieta, Career and Technical Education Director for Seguin ISD, spoke about the benefits of the expo for both students and local businesses. Students will explore different career paths, and businesses can identify potential future employees. "This event is a great way for students to learn about the different career paths available in our community while inspiring them to consider Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs available to them in high school," Jaurrieta said. The City of Seguin Economic Development Corporation, established in 1994, helps shape the city’s growth through business engagement and workforce initiatives to attract investment and support economic development.
