In what local law enforcement is treating as a murder/suicide, two bodies were discovered early yesterday in the 5500 block of Goodfellow, as reported by SLMPD officials. Responding officers identified the deceased as Truman Nelson Jr., age 49, and Martina Peeler, age 42, both of whom were found with gunshot wounds in the bedroom of their residence.
Authorities arrived at the scene around 2:40 a.m. and, alongside EMS personnel who subsequently declared the two individuals dead at the spot, initiated an investigation into the incident—a Glock handgun was recovered near Nelson, leading investigators to preliminarily conclude that he shot Peeler before turning the gun on himself, though this scenario remains under ongoing scrutiny by the Homicide Division to fully understand the tragic events that transpired within the walls of the home that morning.
As the local community grapples with the shock and sorrow of this event, the Homicide Division is avidly seeking information from the public. SLMPD's report urges anyone who may have knowledge pertinent to the case to step forward and contact the Homicide Division directly at 314-444-5371.
