A 16-year-old from Somerville was placed in handcuffs in connection to a shooting event that occured last Friday, on Boston Avenue in Medford. After thorough detective work, the juvenile was arrested today in Cambridge and is facing a pile of charges in the Cambridge Juvenile Court which include Assault with a Dangerous Weapon and carrying a Firearm Without a License, among others, according to the Medford Police Department’s social media post.
The incident, which occurred around 1 a.m., involved a gunfire exchange near 364 Boston Avenue. Officers arriving at the scene found a firearm and shell casings. The arrest was made with assistance from the Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section (VAFS) and Cambridge Police Department, the post noted.
While one suspect is now in custody, another—18-year-old Sinai Stephens from Cambridge—remains at large. Medford PD is asking the public for assistance, encouraging anyone with video evidence from home or dashcams to come forward.
