St. Louis residents, take note: the city's trash collection schedule is shifting to accommodate the Thanksgiving holiday. The City of St. Louis Refuse Division has announced that roll cart trash collection for some residents will be temporarily altered due to the Thanksgiving Day observance on Thursday, November 28. While Monday-solid waste collection remains as scheduled, those who typically expect recycling services on Thursday will need to adjust their calendars.
In a bid to efficiently manage the holiday schedule, residents who normally have their roll carts collected on Monday for solid waste and on Thursday for recycling will instead have their trash collected on Monday, November 25, and their recycling picked up on Wednesday, November 27. This update allows workers to spend Thanksgiving Day with their families, said the Refuse Division. However, it's important to note that yard waste collection originally set for Wednesday will have to be rescheduled as well, as reported by the City of St. Louis.
However, yard waste collection typically slated for Wednesday, November 27, has been canceled so as to not unnecessarily burden the altered schedule. Residents needing to dispose of yard waste will have to wait until it resumes on the following Wednesday, December 4. For those looking for more information on the temporary changes, the City of St. Louis Refuse Division has made details available on their website.
Along with updates about the Thanksgiving schedule, the Refuse Division website also provides answers to questions regarding Remodeling and Renovation, Illegal Dumping, Bulky and B.O.A.T. items (Batteries, Oil, Appliances, Tires), Yard Waste and Christmas Trees, and Recycling information. Residents seeking to responsibly manage their refuse during the holidays and beyond are encouraged to visit the City of St. Louis website for guidance.
