On Sunday, the California Highway Patrol's Oakland office was called to westbound Interstate 580 near Regatta Boulevard in Richmond for a reported domestic violence occurrence. Initially, details were scarce as the victim's location remained unknown, though the reporting party indicated they were the victim. However, as stated by CHP Oakland, further investigation revealed that this individual was the aggressor, backed by the discovery of the actual victim sporting visible injuries.
That same day, efforts continued into the evening when officers, failing to find the suspect at their residence, kept surveillance, leading to an eventual traffic stop. A vehicle of considerable interest yielded the suspect, seated as a left rear passenger. After a detention, the suspect landed behind the barred windows of Martinez Detention Facility. An associated emergency protective order facilitated the seizure of a firearm.
The weapon, linked to the domestic violence case, was stored at the CHP Oakland Area Office, as they conveyed in their official report.
