An alarming chain of events unfolded on Saturday evening when a teen hijacked a vehicle in a dangerous joyride that culminated in a collision with a patrol vehicle and a pedestrian injury, as reported by Baltimore Police.
The episode commenced around 7:30 p.m. with officers pinpointing a vehicle that was the subject of a carjacking the prior day, according to Fox Baltimore. To evade law enforcement, the vehicle rammed into a patrol car. Then, the helmsman of the stolen vehicle, in a frantic bid for escape, struck a pedestrian on the 400 block of West Saratoga Street, a narrative confirmed by police statements.
The occupants abandoned the car and tried to flee on foot, but police caught a 15-year-old boy near the 500 block of West Mulberry Street. A pedestrian injured in the crash was taken to a local hospital and is in critical but stable condition. The teen suspect, also taken to the hospital as a precaution, will face charges, police confirmed.
According to CBS News Baltimore, a police helicopter played a crucial role in tracking the stolen vehicle, guiding ground units to the teen suspect's arrest. The aerial support helped ensure a quick response. Authorities are now investigating to gather more details about the incident.
