Following an investigation into a homicide in Chickamauga, GA, three individuals have been taken into custody by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI). Those arrested include Kayla Michelle McClure, 21, James Logan Darty, 21, and Marcus Allen Chambers, 18. Additionally, authorities are still pursuing Brayden Whatley, 23, who remains at large and is also wanted in connection with the fatal shooting of Dakota Bottomlee, according to a press release published by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
In the early hours of November 1, the Walker County Sheriff’s Office received a call about a possible cardiac arrest in the 1000 block of Johnson Rd. Upon arrival, deputies found Bottomlee shot to death in the home's carport. Bottomlee was pronounced dead at the scene. A tip led to the search of a home in Ringgold, where evidence prompted the issuance of arrest warrants for McClure and Darty followed by Chambers and Whatley later that week.
The GBI press release specifies that McClure, Darty, and Chambers are currently held at Walker County Jail. The arrest warrants for the suspects were obtained after an executed search warrant by the Catoosa County Sheriff’s Office SRT at a property on Alabama Highway in Ringgold, GA, which seemingly pointed investigators towards the involvement of the suspects in the death of Bottomlee.
As the manhunt for Whatley continues, the GBI encourages members of the public to come forward with any information regarding the case or Whatley's whereabouts. Tips can be submitted anonymously through calling 1-800-597-TIPS (8477), online, or via the "See Something, Send Something" mobile app. The investigation remains active and once concluded, the case file will be handed over to the Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office for review.
