The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) announced the arrest of 36-year-old Corey Bryant from Toccoa, Georgia, in connection with the homicide of 42-year-old Angela Baker. According to the GBI, the arrest occurred on Monday, after Bryant was already in custody for an unrelated altercation that took place on the same day of the discovery of Baker's body.
Baker was found deceased at her East Franklin Street residence by family members last Friday, around 4:30 p.m., prompting local authorities to request GBI's assistance in what has unfolded into a death investigation. In the days following, GBI agents gathered evidence linking Bryant, who had a previously reported relationship with the victim, to her death. Information garnered from this investigation led to Bryant's charges of malice murder.
The GBI is investigating the homicide and urging anyone with information to come forward. Tips can be submitted by phone, through the GBI Tipline, online tip platform, or the See Something, Send Something app. The case will be sent to the District Attorney for prosecution decisions.
