The St. Louis Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed that the woman found shot in a north city alley was the same individual kidnapped from Clayton earlier that day. According to FOX 2 Now, 37-year-old Michelle Hampton was discovered on the 4700 block of Greer Avenue in the Kingsway East neighborhood. Officers found her body just after 11 a.m., and her death was attributed to gunshot wounds.
Around 7:15 a.m. on Whitburn Drive in Clayton, 37-year-old Michelle Hampton was abducted at gunpoint, according to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department. Her twin sister, Samantha, witnessed the crime and pursued the kidnapper’s truck until the suspects fired at her car on Euclid and Enright, where her children were also present. Fortunately, no one was injured. Mike Potter, Hampton's brother, told KSDK, "We were told by officers inside that they drove her around a couple different ATMs and made her withdraw money before they shot her five times in the head in the alley."
Julius Cockrell, Hampton's nephew, told News Nation that after a gunshot shattered their car's glass near Kingshighway and Delmar Boulevards, the family lost sight of Hampton's abductor. Investigations by Clayton and St. Louis authorities have linked the abduction and homicide as a targeted incident, though no suspects have been arrested and no details about the perpetrator have been released.
Michelle Hampton, vice president of human resources at Beaver Industrial Supply in St. Louis, advanced from a customer service role during her tenure at the company. The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department is investigating her abduction and murder, focusing on the timeline and motives behind the targeted crime.
