Tragedy struck early this morning in Barrio Logan, where a serious car accident resulted in catastrophic injuries for two passengers, according to the San Diego Police Department's Watch Commander, Officer S. Foster. The SDPD reported that a 63-year-old man while driving a 2023 Jaguar XF, veered off the road due to fatigue and collided with a traffic control pole on the 3500 block of Harbor Drive. San Diego Police Department's official statement detailed that the impact caused his front-seat passenger to suffer a severed arm and described her condition as life-threatening.
Further complicating an already dire situation, a second passenger seated in the rear of the vehicle sustained significant injuries, including two fractured vertebrae and possibly a fractured pelvis. At the same time, the driver seemed to have escaped without serious harm despite the safety features of the modern vehicle. Both passengers were swiftly transported to local hospitals to receive critical medical care. Traffic units responded to the scene and have taken charge of the ongoing investigation.
The collision's aftermath caused considerable disruption along the northbound stretch of Harbor Drive, a usual haven for early-morning commuters. Authorities are urging the public to provide any information that could assist with the investigation by contacting Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
