An officer-involved shooting occurred late Thursday night in Phoenix, where a suspect was fatally shot by police officers. FOX 10 Phoenix reported that the incident began with a confrontation at a convenience store near 83rd Avenue and McDowell Road, around 10:30 p.m., where a suspect allegedly pulled a gun and threatened an individual.

According to police, the suspect fled in a vehicle which was later tracked down to 79th Avenue and Mitchell Drive. The identity of the suspect has not been disclosed, and the area was closed off due to the subsequent investigation.

Meanwhile, a separate but related incident unfolded on Tuesday morning, marking the second officer-involved shooting within approximately 12 hours in Phoenix. As per a statement obtained by AZFamily, a woman called 911 after spotting a man, later identified as Rey David Martinez, attempting to jump over her backyard fence while she was feeding livestock. Responding officers engaged Martinez in a nearby alley, where he reportedly pulled out what turned out to be a replica handgun, ultimately leading to police firing upon him.

"This point, he reached into his waistband and produced a handgun. And this is when the officer-involved shooting occurred," said Phoenix Police Sgt. Mayra Reeson, as stated by AZFamily. Martinez was pronounced dead at the scene and no officers sustained injuries during the encounter.
