This morning, Chatham was interrupted when a 71-year-old woman crashed her SUV into Larry's P.X. Restaurant, injuring two people. The incident occurred just before 9:30 a.m. on Main Street, which is also Route 28, according to WCVB.
Upon the impact of the SUV, an employee found themselves pinned between the vehicle and the building structure. Fire officials described the trapped worker as enduring serious but non-life-threatening injuries, and a customer at the establishment also suffered harm. These events unfolded within Shop Ahoy Plaza, where Larry's P,X. Restaurant has operated for over half a century. The driver of the SUV did not sustain injuries during the crash.
As per NBC Boston, the collision caused significant damage to the restaurant, with video footage showing firefighters and the Barnstable County Tech Rescue team securing the building after the SUV was removed. Despite the incident, nearby businesses in the plaza remained open.
The condition of the two individuals hospitalized, one taken to South Shore Hospital and the other to Cape Cod Hospital, was not detailed beyond initial reports. Police have not yet released additional details about the precipitating factors of the incident or the possible charges the SUV driver might face.
