An accident in East Memphis yesterday evening has left two men injured and resulted in major traffic disruptions on Perkins Road. According to the Action News 5, the Memphis Police Department (MPD) responded to the collision near Mallory Avenue at around 8:46 p.m.
Following the incident, both northbound and southbound traffic was shut down, prompting MPD to advise motorists to seek alternative routes, struggling to accommodate the sudden influx of detoured vehicles. FOX13 Memphis reported that one of the injured men was taken to Regional One Hospital in critical condition, while the second man was transported to Baptist Memorial Hospital with injuries deemed non-critical.
Details pertaining to the cause of the crash have not been disclosed by the MPD as of the latest updates. The area affected by the closure includes a significant portion of Perkins Road, a key thoroughfare in the East Memphis area, contributing to notable traffic complications on surrounding roads.
