Yesterday, two juveniles were detained by officers from the Santa Rosa Police Department (SRPD) following a tip-off about gun possession. Santa Rosa's Amarosa Academy was at the center of concerns after a 16-year-old student purportedly posted photos online holding a firearm and donning attire linked with gang activity.

Though the images did not suggest the gun was on school premises, according to a social media post by the Santa Rosa Police Department, the messaging prompted officers to believe the teenager could have gang affiliations. Officers, informed of the juvenile being on probation with an outstanding arrest warrant, initiated a search at his residence on Stony Point Road. When law enforcement arrived, a second youth attempted to flee by jumping out of the window while the suspect tried to make his way to the back bedroom.

Both were detained promptly, with no resistance. Upon search, a knife was found on the 16-year-old during his arrest, and an unloaded 9mm handgun, correlating with the one in the photos, was uncovered in an entertainment stand in the living room, later confirmed to be stolen. The 15-year-old had two outstanding warrants as well.

The 16-year-old was then booked into Juvenile Hall for his warrant and several firearms violations, while his associate was also booked for his outstanding warrants.
