A multi-agency search that coursed through the streets of Los Altos and spilled over into Mountain View ended in the arrest of an unhoused man in his 20s. The pursuit began last Friday when the Mountain View Police Department alerted the Los Altos Police Department of a man seen in a local resident's garage near Springer Rd. and Vista Grande Ave. around 11:07 a.m.
Following the initial sighting, a flurry of activity ensued as Los Altos officers responded, and a call, at approximately 11:20 a.m., pointed authorities to the Arroyo Rd. area. According to the City of Los Altos Police Department's social media post, the suspect was reported running through a yard and jumping fences.
The chase continued, and a sighting at the 800 block of Raymundo Ave. where the suspect allegedly attempted to take a bicycle from inside a garage but left the scene empty-handed. The Los Altos Police Department deployed K-9 Brock, a drone, and the collected insights of neighborhood witnesses to track the fleeing man.
His run concluded in a backyard on Hollingsworth Dr. in Mountain View, where officers found and apprehended him. The unnamed suspect was taken in safely around 2:00 p.m. His alleged crimes include burglary for the Los Altos incident and a concoction of other offenses. He was subsequently booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail.
