Union County is stepping up its efforts to strengthen local community services by accepting applications for its Community Partner Grant (CPG) for the fiscal year 2025-2026. The grant aims to bolster nonprofits that deliver vital services aligning with the county’s strategic goals. As reported on Friday by Union County’s official website, the application period closes on January 13, 2025, at 5 p.m., with funding commencing from July 1, 2025, to June 30, 2026.

In order to be eligible for the CPG funding, nonprofits must meet certain criteria, including serving Union County residents, holding a 501(c)(3) non-profit status, and providing independently audited financial statements. Additional requirements include contributing to one of five strategic County objectives, such as Public Safety and Economic Development, and maintaining a diversified workforce policy. Organizations who find themselves ineligible on paper, may, however, still reach out to the Budget department for potential exceptions.

"We are excited to work with other nonprofits who share our commitment to serving residents of Union County,” Blake Hart, the Director of Budget Management, expressed enthusiasm for the initiative. Both new and prior recipients of the grant are encouraged to apply, but previous funding does not guarantee future awards. Recommended allotments are based on community needs and priorities, not a set funding amount, as per Union County’s announcement.

After submission, a panel will review applications in February and March, making recommendations for inclusion in the annual budget proposed by the County Manager to the Board of County Commissioners. There will be a public hearing held on the FY26 budget, giving an opportunity for organizations to speak. This, a community-engaged effort, demonstrates the County’s intention to ensure the effective distribution of resources where it's needed most.
