Portland Parks & Recreation seeks volunteers for the Holiday Express train ride, a festive community event along the Springwater Corridor. Volunteers will assist passengers during the scenic journey through Portland's winter landscape, according to the City of Portland.
All aboard for volunteers aged 15 and up! Contribute to local festivities and even fulfill school service hours. Volunteers will assist at the Doyle McCormack Engine House, home to the historic 1912 Polson #2 steam locomotive, as per the City of Portland.
Volunteers with Portland Parks & Recreation will enjoy more than the joy of giving back. Perks include complimentary meals and a chance to ride the iconic Holiday Express. Immerse yourself in the festive atmosphere as the steam engine clatters and hisses around you.
Help is needed Friday through Sunday, from November 29 to January 4, as detailed by the City of Portland. To join the train crew, visit the Oregon Rail Heritage Foundation volunteer page and sign up.
