According to the latest update from the NWS, overcast skies loom over St. Louis with temperatures sitting at 60°F and humidity levels at 50%. Winds are blowing from the southeast at 13 mph, and there's a 20 percent chance of rain overnight.
Looking ahead to today, there's a 50 percent shot to see rain and possible thunderstorms initiating around noon. The day's high is expected to flirt with 72°F, ushering in gusty conditions that might peak at 28 mph. As tonight rolls in, the chance of precipitation jumps to 100%, with rain and potential thunderstorms on the horizon. Moving through to tomorrow, the NWS warns of continuous rain and possible thunderstorms, indicating an 80% likelihood with similar high temperatures, and gusts that may reach up to 31 mph.
That pattern of wet weather is to persist until Tuesday, with a 90 percent chance of more rain and thunderstorms and highs lingering near 69°F. Conditions, however, should turn partly cloudy by late Tuesday night, giving way to a drop in temperature to around 49°F. The NWS's detailed forecast suggests a respite with sunshine slated for Wednesday and a high approximating 65°F. Wednesday night will return to partly cloudy conditions with lows once again around 49°F.
As the week progresses, there's a looming possibility to experience more rain, starting with a 20 percent chance on Thursday night, increasing to 30 percent by Friday, and then 40 percent into Friday night. Come Saturday, the likelihood of rain rises to 50 percent, paired with partly sunny skies and a high near 63°F.
In its Hazardous Weather Outlook, the NWS cautions that "Thunderstorms are possible today tonight across much of the area," and from tomorrow through Tuesday, some storms "may become strong to severe." However, spotter activation is not expected at this time.
