The quiet enclave of Wellesley, Massachusetts, became the backdrop for a fervid police manhunt following a home intrusion on Livingston Road. The incident occurred yesterday evening. Officers were dispatched in response to an activated residential alarm when they stumbled upon the burglary in progress, according to a Facebook post from the Wellesley Police Department.
Two suspects were noted by Officers Collins and Harris to have leapt from the home, plunging into a wooded evasion. Helping to canvas the region, Wellesley College, along with police from Dover, Needham, and state troopers, threw themselves into the pursuit. It was not until 7:00 p.m. that a resident's keen eye led to the interception of one Pedro Salgado of Denver, apprehended on the run by Lt. Jeff Renzella.
Pedro Salgado, worn down by the chase, found himself clad in attire that tied him to the scene—a detail lifted from Officer Collins' initial encounter. "Mr. Salgado was wearing clothing that matched the description provided by Officer Collins who initially saw the suspects," emphasized the release. A court appearance at Dedham District Court is pending, where Salgado faces charges of nighttime breaking and entering, coupled with possession of suspect tools, as per Wellesley Police Department.
While Salgado's pursuit wound down, the second suspect still ghosted through the law's grasp. Drones overseen by Dover and Wellesley Police Departments took to the skies, complementing the efforts of Massachusetts State Police K9 teams and the whirl of helicopter blades from the Airwing. Despite the technological assist, this fugitive managed to slip beyond the perimeter, leading officers to call off the active chase. The search, tightened by night's arrival, grew cold, and officers instead shifted to scrutinize recovered evidence strewn across the locality.
In the wake of the Livingston Road burglary, the Wellesley Police Department extended their gratitude to the neighborly agencies that rallied in the manhunt. Moreover, they urge the community, vigilant and tight-knit, to remain watchful and to report any suspicious musings to 9-1-1. The investigation continues to unravel, the second suspect at large, with no further details disclosed at this time.
