Young entrepreneurs with a passion for sustainable agriculture are gearing up to pitch their green business ideas in a “Shark Tank”-style event. According to a report by DeKalb County, the EMBARC Youth Farm is hosting the competition this Nov. 19, starting at 5:30 p.m., at the Bruce Street East DeKalb Senior Center in Lithonia.
For the past 10 months, participants in the EMBARC program have been working to directly learn and eventually to teach others the ropes of planting, harvesting, food production, and sales strategies. This culminates in their chance to present original business concepts centered on sustainability and extending healthy food access within their community.
The event will not only offer these young entrepreneurs a platform to highlight their creativity and business acumen but will also shine a light on their potential to foster sustainable community growth. Each participant will face a panel of judges who will give feedback and share insights aimed at developing these budding ideas further.
