South Fulton Police have announced the arrest of 16-year-old Jassan Trotter, charged with the murder and armed robbery of an 18-year-old victim, following a double shooting incident early this month. As reported by FOX 5 Atlanta, the shooting took place in the 2700 block of Elkmont Ridge SW at around 3:49 a.m., where the 18-year-old was found dead from a gunshot wound to the chest.
Along with the murder and armed robbery charges, Trotter faces two counts of possessing a firearm during the commission of a crime. He is also reportedly connected to a second victim, another 16-year-old boy, who was found at a different location with multiple gunshot wounds and is currently receiving medical treatment. According to 11Alive News, Trotter is considered the "primary aggressor" in the incident and was attempting to steal the deceased victim's phone prior to the fatal encounter.
The authorities responded to the scene after receiving a call about a person being shot. The vicinity quickly became the focus of a harrowing investigation that led to this tragic conclusion. South Fulton Police confirmed they will not be releasing the name of the teen who died out of respect for the family.
Further details about the incident revealed that Trotter had sustained five gunshot wounds in the leg and neck. The series of events, as described by police, suggest that after the initial altercation and shooting, Trotter fled to another home, where he was later located, as noted by 11Alive News.
