Chicago continues to battle with instances of crime as a 17-year-old male juvenile faces serious charges following a spree of armed robberies and aggravated vehicular hijackings. According to a recent release from the Chicago Police Department, the unidentified minor was nabbed on December 19, 2024, by the collaborative efforts of local law enforcement and the U.S. Marshals Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force.
The young individual is implicated in a string of violent offenses that jolted the 7th District, particularly Englewood, back in September. Officials have levied four felony counts of armed robbery with a firearm at the juvenile, alongside two counts of aggravated firearm-related vehicular hijacking. This comes after the accused was pinpointed as a participant in the incidents that victimized four individuals in the early hours of the 15th of September.
These incidents took place at different locations with the first occurring at 4 a.m. on the 200 block of W. 70th St. impacting two male victims aged 32 and 35, and the latter at 4:45 a.m. on the 7100 block of S. Vincennes, affecting two female victims aged 21 and 23. Though the suspect is currently in custody and has been charged, the Chicago Police notes that no additional information is available at this moment.
