23-Year-Old Man Charged With Vehicular Homicide by Intoxication in Nashville I-40 Fatal CrashSource: Metropolitan Nashville Police Department

A 23-year-old man has been charged in connection with the vehicular death of another young man, 22, on Interstate 40 East. The accused, Logan Garver, faces serious charges including vehicular homicide by intoxication and reckless conduct following the incident that took place in early December.

According to a statement from the Nashville Police Department, on December 3, the body of Austin David was discovered between the Donelson Pike and Stewarts Ferry Pike exits. It's been reported, that family members provided key information that David had been with Garver the night before the tragic event. Garver reportedly revealed details about the crash to several people including claims that he fell asleep or blacked out while driving and upon waking, found he had wrecked his vehicle.

After a tip from a citizen, authorities found Garver's GMC Sierra pickup truck, which showed significant passenger-side damage, hidden under a tarp at Southpoint at Stones River Apartments. The investigation suggests that David was ejected from the pickup truck and subsequently hit by multiple vehicles. To the dismay of authorities, it appears that no potential witnesses remained on the scene.

The identification of Garver and the victim was bolstered by surveillance footage from a club, showing Garver stumbling out and getting into his truck. Garver's charges extend beyond vehicular homicide and include reckless endangerment, evidence tampering, leaving the scene of an accident that involves death, and failure to render aid, as per the police department's report. Currently, the accused is detained on a $103,000 bond.
