Anderson Township is on high alert following the theft of several firearms from a local pawn shop. As reported by WLWT, the burglary occurred at The Castle Jewelry and Pawn, situated on Beechmont Avenue, last Thursday. In response to the incident, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the National Shooting Sports Foundation have offered a combined reward of $5,000 for information leading to the identification and arrest of the suspects involved. WLWT has shared that this burglary is part of a concerning trend that has seen seven gun and pawn shops across Greater Cincinnati targeted in the past six months.

The act, which saw multiple suspects forcibly enter the premises and abscond with several firearms, has left the community on edge. After breaking into The Castle, surveillance cameras caught the thieves in all-black attire shattering glass to gain entry, as per WCPO. This latest theft continues a series of gun shop burglaries in the area, including a noteworthy heist at Ted's Pawn Shop in Norwood, where criminals used a stolen vehicle to ram through the storefront, making off with nine guns.

Gabe Tincher, vice president of Ted's Pawn Shop, expressed to WLWT the shock this type of crime instilled in a family business operating for over forty years, "We have not had any of our guns stolen from us that have been recovered yet," he said. The break-in has led to significant damage to the establishment, with repairs for the front door alone costing $10,000. Tincher added, "We are definitely taking more security measures than we had in the past." Despite the financial setbacks and increased security measures, the community's predominant hope, echoed by Tincher himself, remains that the perpetrators will be swiftly apprehended to deter future criminal behavior.

The ATF's Columbus Field Division and the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office jointly investigated the burglary. Individuals possessing information about the case are urged to contact the ATF at 1-888-ATF-TIPS (888-283-8477), via email at [email protected], or through the agency's website. Fox19 also notes that the ATF is seeking tips on other related burglaries at Triggers Firearms and Range USA in Florence, indicating a broader pattern of firearm-targeted crimes within the region. FOX19 reported surveillance photos showing suspects smashing through The Castle's glass front door. These images contribute to the growing dossier of evidence as law enforcement works to track down those responsible for the thefts.
