An 80-year-old man from Paw Paw, Michigan, has been arrested on charges of methamphetamine trafficking. According to WOODTV, the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office detained the suspect following a raid on his home in Almena Township that took place last Friday.

In a statement released by the Sheriff's Office, the elderly man was caught with meth, smoking devices, and scales inside his garage. A detailed search led to the unsettling discovery of more contraband in the basement. "Investigators found a small amount of meth with smoking devices and scales inside the garage. After interviewing the suspect, the sheriff’s office said it found 1.6 pounds of meth inside the basement of the home with several guns," reported WOODTV.

The suspect, who is currently unnamed, has confessed to being involved in a narcotic operation. An official press release from the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office shared further details of the incident: "During the search of the garage a small amount of meth was located along with smoking devices and scales. Through an interview with the male suspect detectives were advised that a large quantity of meth was still inside the basement of his house."

The suspect's wife was present during the raid but is not considered a suspect at this time, as stated in a news release by the Van Buren County Sheriff's Department. The case is currently pending, and once the sheriff's office completes its report, it will be sent to the Van Buren County Prosecutor for formal charges. The sheriff’s office has encouraged anyone with more information on the case to come forward.
