An elderly pedestrian lost his life in Arlington late last month after being hit by a car while crossing a major thoroughfare. Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Arlington Police Chief Julie Flaherty have confirmed that investigators are digging into the details of the crash that claimed the life of 85-year-old Harlan Cuklanz.
The Middlesex District Attorney's Office announced that the incident occurred at around 6:00 p.m. on November 26, 2024, along Massachusetts Avenue at its intersection with Dundee Street. Cuklanz, an Arlington resident, was hit by an eastbound Toyota Prius, driven by a 47-year-old man from Lexington, who stayed at the scene after the collision.
Following the incident, emergency services transported Cuklanz to Lahey Hospital, where he eventually succumbed to his injuries. The investigation will likely focus on what led to the crash and whether the driver followed traffic laws.
