Artificial intelligence isn't just for automating tasks and answering questions anymore—it's also trying to learn to crack a joke at our expense, specifically targeting metro Phoenix and its idiosyncrasies. As reported by Phoenix New Times, ChatGPT took an upgraded swing at roasting the distinct Phoenix cities with jabs at Scottsdale for its Botox and real estate listings, calling it "Beverly Hills for people who couldn't quite make it to California," and didn't resist calling Mesa the city that struck a deal with Home Depot.
The digs didn't end in the East Valley, with the AI sharpening its virtual tongue to jab at Chandler's tech hub status, jesting that "Tech companies love Chandler because even their robots don't mind how boring it is," in a statement obtained by Phoenix New Times. OpenAI's upgrade has enabled its brainchild ChatGPT to not only enhance its comedic edge but also to precisely target regional characteristics with a keen sense of mockery.
The AI bot's takedowns didn't stop with the city's appearance or cultural aura. Phoenix's very weather and its residents' driving habits were fair game too. According to Axios, ChatGPT coldly quipped about the city's insistent use of the phrase "It's a dry heat," and compared Phoenix drivers to NASCAR enthusiasts — always trying to find the right balance between ignoring speed limits and dodging potholes.
But it wasn't all harsh burns and acerbic satire; the AI did give Phoenix some concessionary recognition. It admitted that despite the sizzling roast it served, Phoenix still managed to hold its cool, with "sneaky-good" food scenes and unmatched poolside lounging. "Phoenix, we'll roast you for your quirks, but deep down, we know you're a city that takes the heat — literally and figuratively — and still manages to be pretty cool. Well, not temperature-cool, but you get it," as per Axios.
