Akron police have arrested in connection with a death deemed initially suspicious. The body of Michael Zaro, aged 29, was found on October 15 in a tent behind a vacant home on the 800 block of Oberlin Street. Cleveland19 reported that the victim had signs of trauma when officers arrived following a call about a possible fight at around 5:30 a.m.
Recent developments have led the authorities to formally charge Aaron Feaster, 34, with murder and felonious assault about Zaro's death. When the additional allegations were brought forward, Feaster was already in custody at the Summit County Jail on unrelated charges. In a statement obtained by FOX8, the Akron Police Department noted the connection to the crime scene was not immediately clear. However, their investigation has since evolved to implicate Feaster in the incident fully.
While investigating the scene in October, residents reported hearing a potential altercation, prompting the police response. WKYC stated that after the discovery of Zaro, the circumstances of his passing were soon suspected to be the result of foul play.
The Akron Police Department has continued to investigate the case even as Feaster faces new legal challenges. They are still actively seeking information and urge anyone with knowledge of the incident to reach out. Anonymous tips can also be made to Summit County Crimestoppers. In pursuing additional evidence and closure, the community's cooperation can sometimes prove vital. According to a WKYC interview, authorities emphasize the importance of public engagement in such investigations.
