
The Metropolitan Police Department has reported an arrest in connection with a fatal shooting that took place in Southeast Washington, D.C. earlier this month. The incident occurred on Thursday, December 5, in the evening hours when Seventh District officers were called to the scene in the 2000 block of Wade Road, Southeast, following a report of gunfire.
According to the MPD's press release, upon their arrival at approximately 5:16 p.m., officers discovered a man with what appeared to be a gunshot wound. The victim, later identified as 25-year-old Mark Odoms, who was of no fixed address, was transported to the hospital by DC Fire and EMS. Despite exhaustive efforts to save his life, he was pronounced dead at the facility.
Police efforts to track down a suspect culminated on Monday, December 16, when, as stated in by the MPD, the Capitol Area Regional Fugitive Task Force located and arrested 23-year-old Lamar Odoms of Southeast. This arrest occurred in Temple Hills, MD, and was supported by a DC Superior Court Arrest Warrant. Lamar Odoms has been charged with Second Degree Murder while Armed in relation to the fatal incident.
The case, which is registered under CCN: 24188628, continues to urge community members with any pertinent information to come forward to assist in the ongoing investigation. The MPD has not disclosed any additional details regarding the circumstances of the shooting or the relationship, if any, between Mark and Lamar Odoms.
