Athens-Clarke County Leisure Services Department facilities have announced their seasonal closure schedule. As reported by the county's official website, these facilities will be shutting their doors in observance of the Christmas holiday from Tuesday, December 24 to Wednesday, December 25. Those looking to utilize these services will have to pause their plans during this brief hiatus, but a swift return to normal hours is slated for Thursday, December 26.

Despite the temporary closures, those eager to explore the outdoors won’t be completely out of options, as all park grounds will maintain reduced hours of 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. throughout the holiday season. All facilities will remain closed on New Year’s Day, Wednesday, January 1. However, the parks will still be accessible during the festive period, but only for limited hours.

As the New Year rolls in, those relying on the services provided by the Leisure Services Department won't have to wait long for a return to regularity. Starting Thursday, January 2, 2025, operations are expected to resume according to the usual schedule, as confirmed via the official announcement.
