Atlanta Police have charged Kortez Ragland with multiple felonies, including Felony Murder and Malice Murder, in connection with a fatal shooting on Metropolitan Parkway SW on September 23. The incident followed a verbal dispute that escalated, resulting in one man’s death and another's injury. Ragland is also charged with Aggravated Assault and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, according to the Atlanta Police Department.
Arrest warrants were issued for Ragland by Atlanta Police Department’s Homicide detectives on Thursday. He is currently in custody at Fulton County Jail on unrelated charges. The shooting occurred on Thursday at around 12:06 p.m. at 875 Metropolitan Pkwy. SW. Police found two men with gunshot wounds; one, an 18-year-old, was taken to the hospital and stabilized, while the other died at the scene.
The Atlanta Police Department has reminded the public that arrest records and photos are public, but being arrested doesn’t mean someone is guilty. The investigation into a shooting in September is still ongoing. Early reports suggest it started from a fight between two men. The name of the person who died hasn’t been released, and Ragland, the accused, is facing legal action. The case will continue based on the evidence and what witnesses say.
