Baltimore law enforcement officials have apprehended a 61-year-old man in connection with a string of arson incidents throughout the city. Bernard Stepney was taken into custody on allegations of deliberately setting fires that targeted mailboxes and buildings across various Baltimore neighborhoods.
According to FOX Baltimore, the fires were reported at the 300 block of West Mulberry Street and 400 block of Cathedral Street, in addition to several other locations. During their investigation, detectives collected physical evidence and reviewed surveillance footage, which led to Stepney's identification and subsequent arrest. Following this collective information procured by the authorities, an arrest warrant was obtained and issued for Stepney.
The arrest was made on the evening of last Tuesday. A Central District patrol officer located and arrested Bernard Stepney without incident said the police. The accused now faces charges including second-degree arson and first-degree malicious burning, among other fire-related offenses. He was taken to the Central Booking Intake Facility following his apprehension.
