
A Bartlett man, John Langevin, was arrested after a standoff that led to the discovery of his mother's body in a home on Luther Road, as reported by WREG News Channel 3. The suspect has been charged with aggravated kidnapping, aggravated domestic assault, and as a convicted felon, illegal possession of a firearm. "The investigation remains active and ongoing. Investigators are working to determine the series of events leading to the death of the victim, including collecting evidence and conducting interviews," the Bartlett Police Department said in a statement.
According to FOX13 Memphis, a records request revealed that Langevin was also charged with abuse of a corpse. His criminal history includes a variety of charges such as assault, domestic assault, drugs, and burglary dating back to 199. Subsequent to his surrender, police entered the dwelling and discovered Langevin's deceased mother, although the causes leading to her death have yet to be disclosed.
Action News 5 reported that Langevin faces multiple charges following a four-hour standoff with police, with additional charges pending. The standoff concluded when Langevin surrendered to the authorities. Inside the residence, officers found Langevin’s mother deceased. However, the manner of her death remains unclear. Langevin's past run-ins with the law have included arrests for aggravated assault, burglary, kidnapping, theft, DUI, and drug use.
