In a recent announcement, the Library has partnered with Hill Country Family Services to introduce a new initiative focused on edible education for the local community. This collaboration is made possible by a fully funded grant from the Najim Charitable Foundation, which will support the acquisition of a Charlie Cart, a mobile teaching kitchen designed to help educate community members of all ages about healthy nutrition.
A primary objective of this initiative is to promote a comprehensive understanding of nutrition and its effects on individual and community health. The Charlie Cart is equipped with kitchen tools and educational materials designed for hands-on learning, covering the entire nutritional process, from food selection to meal preparation.
According to an official release from the city, the culinary education tool will be available for use starting in January, following a training period. The Library and Hill Country Family Services are set to begin offering programming soon after. Robin, a contact listed in the announcement, is available at 830-249-3053 for those interested or organizations wishing to schedule a session on healthy food preparation.
