In an effort to tackle yard waste, Boynton Beach's Solid Waste Division is rolling out a week-long vegetation amnesty program. Announced recently, this initiative will take place from Monday through Friday, giving residents the opportunity for unlimited, free vegetation disposal. During this period, municipal crews will collect yard debris set out at the curb on the day prior to residents' regular scheduled pick-up day, according to the city's official website.
Spacious pickups, which break from the usual cap, will be welcomed by residents who are typically limited by the three cubic yards of foliage allowance per week outside of such events. The amnesty program guidelines, however, mirror the regular standards which stipulate that the vegetative material must be no more than four feet in length and four inches in diameter. Distancing, a necessary three feet from the likes of mailboxes and recycling bins, applies as well to ensure a smooth collection process. For more information on the scheduled pickups and guidelines, visit the official website of the City of Boynton Beach.
For those with more substantial yard debris, the rules state that tree stumps and trunks greater than four feet in diameter need special pick-up arrangements. Scheduled outside of the amnesty week, the larger items are not part of the unwieldy pieces that will be freely hauled away during the special week. Residents seeking more details or to schedule a pick-up of non-conforming yard waste can contact the Solid Waste Division at 561-742-6200, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
