A woman was fatally shot by her grandmother in Buckeye yesterday afternoon, according to Buckeye Police. The incident occurred around 4 p.m. at a home near Baseline and Miller Roads. Officers found a woman in her early 30s with a gunshot wound, and she was pronounced dead at the scene. The grandmother, in her 70s, was found with a gun and taken into custody. A Buckeye Police representative confirmed, "Information gathered on scene suggests this was a domestic violence incident involving a grandmother, mother and granddaughter and that the grandmother shot the granddaughter."
Efforts to save the woman's life were unsuccessful. Buckeye PIO Carissa Planalp stated, as reported by AZ Family, “This situation is incredibly emotional for the family involved. It’s incredibly emotional for the community, the neighbors here tonight and it’s very emotional for the first responders who did everything they could to try to save this young woman’s life tonight. Unfortunately they were just not successful.” Police are asking the community to avoid the area as the investigation continues.
