A Bullhead City woman is facing multiple charges after an altercation with police officers during a domestic violence response. According to FOX 10 Phoenix, Vanessa Marie Jacquez, 39, allegedly punched one officer and stabbed another in the leg with a knife during the incident that occurred on Wednesday, around 8 p.m.
The police were called to the scene near Marina Boulevard, and Lakeside Drive after a report of domestic violence was filed by the victim who stated his daughter was aggressive and "acting out of control". Upon officers' arrival, Jacquez is said to have been "extremely uncooperative and combative", the action resulting in one officer needing stitches at the hospital. Despite the incident, the officer was treated and released, police said, as per FOX 10 Phoenix.
In a detailed account of the event from The Bee, the officer who was stabbed in the thigh had to be transported to Western Arizona Regional Medical Center and subsequently received four stitches. Emily Fromelt, the Public Information Officer for the Bullhead City Police Department, provided the contact information, stating this release is part of the department's effort to maintain transparency and public awareness.
Following her arrest, Jacquez was booked into Kingman's Mohave County Jail. She faces charges of assault, disorderly conduct, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon against a peace officer resulting in serious physical injury, and another count of aggravated assault against a peace officer. Fromelt reminded the public that, individuals arrested or under investigation are considered innocent until proven guilty, this principle serving as a cornerstone of the justice system.
