Fire crews across Cape Cod were called into action yesterday evening to combat a significant blaze at a commercial building in Yarmouth. The call came in at approximately 6:43 p.m. after a delivery driver, who was situated behind a supermarket on Station Avenue, reported hearing an explosion followed by the sight of fire near a local bike path, according to WCVB.

Upon the authorities' investigation, a large structure on Huntington Avenue was found aflame with evidence of multiple explosions inside. Firefighters, faced with hindrances of heavy metal garage doors, aggressively attacked the blaze, which had engulfed several bays containing boats, motor vehicles, and flammable materials like propane. Despite the challenges, including a quick advancement of the fire, they managed to confine it to three bays of the building.

Meanwhile, NBC Boston included additional details from Yarmouth Fire Chief Enrique Arrascue, who noted that the fire was initially mistaken for an outside fire but was later updated to involve an entire commercial building. Video footage from the scene displayed several boats in proximity to where firefighters directed their efforts against the flames in multiple bays, which were fueled in part by commercial boat equipment such as fiberglass and resin.

The on-scene teams, bolstered by an increased number of firefighters, managed to knock down the fire, albeit facing extra dangers like icy conditions and a notable drop in temperatures. The hard work of the fire crews spanned several hours to bring the fire under complete control, with no injuries reported in the aftermath. Both Yarmouth Police and Fire departments have asserted that the cause of the blaze remains under active investigation.
