In a decisive operation at the Eagle Pass Port of Entry, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers intercepted a substantial cache of weapons and ammunition. The seizure included 13 weapons, 26 magazines, and 40 rounds of ammunition, confirming the vigilance of CBP officers in safeguarding borders.

"Our frontline CBP officers continue to maintain strict vigilance in both the inbound and outbound environment and that mission dedication resulted in a significant outbound weapons interception," Port Director Pete Beattie, told U.S. Customs and Border Protection. The seizure took place on Wednesday during an outbound inspection at the Camino Real International Bridge. A 1998 Dodge was selected for a detailed examination which led to the discovery. The officers used CBP canines and a non-intrusive inspection system to uncover the hidden arsenal.

According to a statement from U.S. Customs and Border Protection, following the find, the weapons, ammunition, and magazines were seized, and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) initiated a criminal investigation. This incident casts a light on the ongoing struggle against arms trafficking and the measures taken by the CBP to address this issue.
