
In the unfolding narrative of a North Tryon homicide case, the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department's (CMPD) investigation has resulted in the apprehension of a suspect, as announced in a recent department update. Marquell Pettiford, 28, has been charged with First Degree Murder and Possession of a Firearm by Convicted Felon, with the CMPD's Violent Crime Apprehension Team (VCAT) making the arrest following the issuance of warrants.
Last Friday, Pettiford was located and taken into custody by VCAT, the capture unfolded without incident thereafter Pettiford was escorted to the Law Enforcement Center for questioning by homicide detectives, according to CMPD's official statement. Post-interview, he was turned over to the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office, and the deceased's family has been informed of the suspect's arrest.
The ongoing investigation, still active, promises more information to be shared by the CMPD’s Public Affairs Division in due course.
