A 20-year-old man identified as Jaylin Brewster has been charged with multiple felony counts following a robbery and altercation with police officers. According to a report from the Chicago Police Department, Brewster, a resident of the 1000 block of N. Mason Ave., has been charged with two felony counts of aggravated robbery indicating possession of a firearm and two felony counts of aggravated battery against a peace officer.
The incident in question occurred in the early hours of Monday. Brewster was apprehended at 2:00 A.M., in the 7900 block of S. Throop after he allegedly implied he had a firearm, and subsequently robbed a 39-year-old male and a 41-year-old male in the same block. The police department's official statement detailed that Brewster was "quickly placed into custody on scene," but later "battered responding officers," leading to the additional charges. A detention hearing was held the following day, December 24, at the court located at 2600 S. California.
Details of the belongings taken during the robbery have not been released, and the Chicago Police Department has not provided further information regarding the condition of the officers involved in the altercation with Brewster.
