A Chicago man has been charged with aggravated DUI after an incident involving his vehicle and an Illinois State Police SUV on Interstate 57. On the night of December 5, Ricky D. Jordon, 56, was arrested for aggravated DUI and driving without a valid license. NBC Chicago stated that an additional charge of an aggravated Scott's Law violation was pending.
The crash occurred around 8:30 p.m. in the southbound lanes of I-57 near 135th Street. It was initiated when Jordon's Hyundai SUV sideswiped the police vehicle's mirror before striking the rear of a second car, which had been pulled over by the trooper, according to NBC Chicago.
The trooper, whose identity hasn't been released, sustained serious injuries after being hit by Jordon's vehicle and pushed into a ditch, per authorities. No additional details were immediately provided as the investigation by the ISP continues, as reported by ABC7 Chicago.
