
Chicago man John Conway, 35, of the 2600 block of N. Lakeview, has been charged with the murder of a 34-year-old man. The felony count is of first-degree murder, as per the announcement made by the Chicago Police Department. Conway turned himself in to authorities on December 4, at 1:27 a.m. following the distribution of a community alert concerning the incident.
The arrest occurred within the vicinity of the 2400 block of W. Belmont, mere days after the alert was issued. Conway was positively identified as the individual responsible for the fatal shooting that took place on November 27 in the 2400 block of N. Clark. According to the Chicago Police Department's news release, the victim was killed within the precincts of the 19th District.
A detention hearing was held on December 6 at 2600 S. California, where Conway faced the charges. As he was placed into custody, the details surrounding the motivation and circumstances of the murder were not immediately made public. There's been no additional information released after the detention hearing.
