A man was wounded in a shooting incident that unfolded in Chicago's Back of the Yards neighborhood on Wednesday night. The Chicago Police Department reports that a 30-year-old man shot the victim, who was outside of an apartment on the 700 block of West Garfield Boulevard, near 8:46 p.m.
The circumstances leading up to the shooting involved the injured man reportedly kicking the door of the apartment unit. According to FOX 32 Chicago, the man inside responded by firing his weapon, and hitting the victim in the abdomen. The man was subsequently transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center in serious condition.
Following the shooting, the shooter did not flee the scene. He was arrested by law enforcement, and a firearm was recovered at the location of the incident. As Chicago Sun-Times covers, the man was still present when police arrived, and he was taken into custody without further incident.
No additional injuries were reported in connection to the event. The investigation continues as Area One detectives look into the circumstances of the shooting. As of now, there have been no comments from the individuals involved, nor have their identities been released to the public.
