A burglary alert has been issued for residents of the Bowmanville area in Chicago's 20th (Lincoln) District following a recent incident. According to a community alert from the Chicago Police Department, the burglary occurred at approximately 2:30 A.M. on November 29 at a residence on the 1800 block of W. Balmoral Ave.
The suspect, described as donning a distinctive jacket with yellow stripes and what seems to be glasses, allegedly entered a yard unlawfully, gained entry into the garage through a side door, then opened the overhead door. Once inside, they reportedly took two adult bikes, an electric cargo bike, and various DEWALT tools and chargers, and left the scene on foot through the alley.
Local authorities are urging the community to enhance their vigilance as they investigate the crime. The CPD advises homeowners to secure all doors and gates and remain aware of their surroundings at all times. Any suspicious activity should be reported immediately by dialing 9-1-1, but citizens are cautioned against pursuing fleeing suspects, instead being encouraged to simply provide any information they may have to the police.
