In a 30-day operation, Cobb County police apprehended three individuals accused of murder or homicide. The first arrest occurred on Nov. 2, when Kartwell Sirmans was arrested after a violent home invasion that resulted in one death and injuries to others, including a five-year-old child, as reported by the Atlanta News First. The chase ended in a nearby subdivision.
On Nov. 12, Derrick Anderson was arrested following a high-speed chase. Anderson, wanted for failing to appear in court on a homicide charge, crashed into another car and tried to flee on foot. He and his passenger, who evaded capture temporarily, were later detained.
On Dec. 1, Pharis Brown was arrested near Interstate 20 in south Cobb. Brown, wanted for murder in DeKalb County, was arrested without incident during a felony traffic stop. According to a statement from FOX5 Atlanta, Officer Wilson commented, "As a law enforcement officer, that’s what you sign up for is to take real bad guys to jail."
Flock cameras helped identify two suspects by capturing their vehicle tags. "Once they see the tag, they’re like, hey, I got it, this is the car. There’s no question this is the car we’re looking for and the car Villa Rica police are looking for," Wilson explained in an interview with FOX 5 Atlanta. All suspects are currently being held in separate jails, each facing murder charges.
