Collierville Bids Farewell to Mayor Stan Joyner and Aldermen in Heartfelt ReceptionSource: Town of Collierville

Collierville's Town Hall was the site of a farewell gathering on Monday, as community members and staff came together to honor outgoing aldermen Billy Patton and John Worley, as well as retiring Mayor Stan Joyner. The reception recognized Joyner's 26 years of public service, including 16 years as the mayor of Collierville.

The evening provided an opportunity to reflect on the legacies of Patton, a local business owner, and Worley, who has a background in the home-building industry. "There have been some good times and there have been some not so good times, but we were always able to work through our differences and make the Town of Collierville a better place to live," Mayor Joyner remarked, according to a report by Collierville's official website.

On November 25, the pair were honored with resolutions from the Shelby County Commission in recognition of their dedicated service. According to the town's annoucement, Commissioner David Bradford praised Alderman Patton for his support and encouragement during Bradford’s own campaign and highlighted his collaborative work with Alderman Worley on the Planning Commission.

The final Board meeting for the trio included a surprise for Mayor Joyner. In honor of his leadership, Joyner was presented with a custom gavel box, symbolizing his final act as mayor as the board session came to a close. Both aldermen were recognized for their contributions to various town projects and initiatives. According to the Collierville website, the meeting marked the end of an era for Collierville's leadership, with the mayor's gavel coming down for the last time.
