The Town of Collierville is focusing on pedestrian safety around the busy Town Square during the holiday season. North Rowlett Street near the Depot has been closed to vehicles, creating a safe zone for pedestrians.
According to the Town of Collierville, with a surge in visitors, the closure addresses safety concerns, particularly with cars ignoring height restrictions and one-way signs. Pedestrians can now move through the area without traffic interference. The street will reopen to vehicles after the holiday season.
To offset the loss of parking spaces, the Town of Collierville highlights over 400 public parking spots within walking distance of the Square. Although 24 spots were removed for safety, nearby lots, including one on Washington Street with 60 new spaces, provide ample parking.
