A fatal shooting incident in Cordova, Memphis, on Saturday morning has left the neighborhood and community grappling with the proximity of unexpected violence. WREG reports that Memphis Police were called to the 900 block of Pheasant Hollow Drive just before ten in the morning. On arrival, officers found an adult male critically injured, who was later pronounced dead at Regional One Hospital, with a juvenile also injured during the incident.

Talking to FOX13 Memphis, neighbor Lashun Crawford said, "I never thought it would just be this really close to home, too close to home." This sentiment was echoed by Christi Fuller, another resident, who expressed her surprise, explaining that such incidents were highly unusual for what she described as "a good neighborhood." She noted with concern that "Crime is getting worse and closer to home."

The details that led up to the shooting remain unclear. However, authorities are actively investigating the event. The Memphis Police Department has yet to release information concerning the shooter or possible motives behind the grim episode. Neighbors, while shocked, are left trying to piece together the events that unfolded so close to their doorsteps. In a scene described by one onlooker, the response to the tragic event was immediate and intense. "MPD was a large presence. It was the Memphis Fire Department, they was outside, and I just wanted to pray for the family at that moment," recounted Crawford in a statement obtained by FOX13 Memphis. The juvenile’s condition, last reported as critical, has not been updated since the shooting.
